Vitra Akari 3AD Table Lamp

The Vitra Akari 3AD Table Lamp is a stunning example of modernist design, blending traditional Japanese craftsmanship with contemporary aesthetics. It features a shade made from washi paper, supported by a bamboo and steel wire frame, which casts a soft, diffused light that enhances any interior space.

Created by the iconic Isamu Noguchi in 1951, the Akari Light Sculptures were inspired by the ethereal glow of traditional Japanese lanterns used by fishermen on the Nagara River. This lamp is part of a larger series that includes over 100 different models of table, floor, and ceiling lights, each designed to embody the concept of 'akari,' a term that signifies both brightness and lightness in Japanese.
