Sowden CL1 Ceiling Lamp Shade

The Sowden CL1 Ceiling Lamp Shade is a striking design by George Sowden, crafted from silicone in a bold palette of white, red, and black. With a diameter of 18 cm and a height of 18 cm, this shade brings sculptural presence to any interior while showcasing the unique diffusing qualities of silicone as a lighting material.

This shade belongs to the Shades collection, launched in 2020 after George Sowden discovered how effectively silicone diffuses light. Beyond its visual appeal, silicone offers practical advantages: it is non-toxic, easy to clean, shock-resistant, and retains its colour over time, making the CL1 a durable and low-maintenance choice for everyday use.

The CL1 is sold exclusively as a lampshade, without a ceiling rose or electrical system. It has been designed to fit any standard E27 pendant fitting, accommodating an E27 LED bulb of up to 15 W (bulb not included). This makes it a flexible option for those looking to update or personalise an existing pendant setup.

For a complete installation, the Sowden Ceiling Rose Kit is available separately, including a cable, ceiling fitting, and E27 bulb holder, allowing the CL1 shade to be transformed into a fully functional pendant light.

Combining Scandinavian design sensibility with innovative material use, the Sowden CL1 Ceiling Lamp Shade is a versatile accessory for those seeking a distinctive, colour-rich lighting accent that pairs contemporary form with everyday practicality.
