Serax August Bar Stool

Designed by Vincent Van Duysen for Serax, the August Bar Stool in Black embodies a refined minimalism born from architectural discipline. Originally created for the terrace of a converted monastery in Antwerp, the August collection translates the quiet rigor of monastic life into a contemporary design language, balancing simplicity with a strong sense of presence.

Crafted from powder-coated aluminium, this bar stool features a slightly curved seat and back that offer unexpected comfort within its clean, sculptural silhouette. The subtle curvature softens the geometric form, making it as inviting as it is visually striking. Its neutral black finish lends itself to a wide range of interior and exterior settings, from refined dining terraces to modern kitchen islands.

Built to withstand daily use both indoors and outdoors, the August Bar Stool is durable and low-maintenance, while retaining the understated elegance that defines Van Duysen's design philosophy. As with many pieces in the Serax collection, subtle irregularities may occur due to the handfinishing process, adding a layer of authenticity and character to each individual piece.

With dimensions of 53 x 53 x 101 cm and a weight of 9.0 kg, the stool offers a sturdy, well-proportioned silhouette suited for bar-height seating. Its fixed seat height and solid aluminium construction ensure long-lasting stability, while its restrained aesthetic makes it a versatile addition to both residential and hospitality environments.

The August Bar Stool stands as a testament to considered design — where architecture, comfort, and material honesty meet in perfect harmony.
