Tatu in Swahili means three. It refers to the three-banded armadillo, mammals that have a protective shell on its back, which it rolls into a ball in the face of danger. Interestingly, armadillo in Spanish means ‘little armored ones’. Andre Ricard, a Spanish designer, was fascinated by this creature when he was reading about it on a transoceanic flight. He also realized that the light above his seat didn’t disturb his sleeping companion. These two observations together formed the foundation of an incomparable creation. In 1972, he created the Santa & Cole Tatu Table Lamp, which then became an iconic creation in Europe. It belonged to a revolutionary period when artists could express themselves without inhibitions.

Santa & Cole Tatu Table Lamp is a compact, flexible lamp consisting of 3 sections. Each section can rotate to a desired angle, independent of the others. Made of ABS plastic, it is available in red or white color. With advanced LED lightings and a focus lens,this is an improved version of the classic creation. The light intensity can be adjusted as desired using a dimmer, ensuring that the light source is less hot and durable.
