The Santa & Cole Lamparaprima is one lamp for two places: stand it on a desk or bedside table, or hang it on the wall. The same piece does both, with no extra bracket or version to choose. A slim metal rod carries a transparent glass LED tube, capped with a rotating visor-like metal shade that directs the light where you need it.
It began as a bent clothes hanger. In 1979 Pete Sans twisted a wire hanger into a stand for a light tube, and the result became his first commercial lamp and the second product Santa & Cole ever issued, back in 1985. There is no switch: you turn the lamp on and off by rotating the light source itself. The 2025 edition runs on a low-voltage 12 V system in which the metal structure conducts the current, so the lamp keeps its original bare, drawn-in-air silhouette.
The built-in S&C LED module delivers 350 lumens at a very warm 2500 K with a colour rendering of 90, and is rated for 40,000 hours. Dimensions W 25 x H 19 x D 12 cm, weight 0.44 kg, cable length 2 m. Made in Spain.
