Plato Design Esse Table Lamp

Born in the spring of 2020, during a moment of profound global change, the Esse Table Lamp by Plato Design embodies the essentiality that gave it its name. Handmade in concrete, its monolithic silhouette and minimalist lines are broken only by a side slot that allows the electrical wiring to be installed without visible hardware — a detail born directly from the constraints of its unusual origin story.

The lamp's half-cylinder form allows for two distinct light modes, direct and shielded, offering versatility in how its glow is cast across a room. This craftsmanship-driven approach to concrete gives each piece its color and structural rigor, while the handmade nature of the process means every lamp carries slight, natural variations that make it entirely unique.

Measuring 12 x 9 x 16 cm (4.7" x 3.5" x 6.3") and weighing 1.3 kg (2.9 lbs), the Esse is compact yet substantial, fitted with a 180 cm cord for flexible placement. It takes an E14 bulb (E12 for the US and Canada), max 8W LED, not included — we recommend pairing it with an LED bulb for optimal performance. Rated IP20, it is designed strictly for indoor use.

The Esse Table Lamp is available in a wide array of colors, allowing it to adapt to virtually any interior palette, and can be fitted with a European, British, or American plug to suit your location.
