Expressive qualities of mouth-blown glass
The Seine poetic collection of pendant lamps, ceiling lamps and table lamps is inspired by the effect of light in moving water. To represent that fluidity, Space Copenhagen uses the layering of mouth-blown glass. A material that is also initially liquid and can be manipulated in this way to evoke in its final form the shine and movement of a gently flowing river.
The lampshades of the Seine pendant lamps have a clover-like shape with a grooved pattern, creating a textured and layered light. The glass is either clear smokey tinted, where you can see the inner structure of the lamp, or coral coloured with a sandblasted interior, giving a fuzzier, cloudy look.
The base of the Seine pendant lamps is made of metal with an antique brass finish. From the sturdy base, 4 metal arms depart to support the lampshade. The visible screws on the outside of the glass lampshade, sleek metal structure and grooved glass shade create a design that looks contemporary, industrial and nostalgic at the same time.
