Axis71 Christophe Gevers Iron Beam Table Lamp

Christophe Gevers had a deep passion for his craft, and even outside his professional projects, he was constantly engaged in creative experiments. This lamp (1973), one of his personal “tinkering projects”, is a perfect example of this. The design consists of a 20 cm long section of a sturdy lead crossbar, onto which he mounted an adjustable reflector spotlight with a mirrored head. This combination makes the lamp ideal for subtly illuminating specific objects or spaces.
The strength of this design lies in its simplicity and unrefined, industrial appearance. The raw aesthetic and functional design make this lamp particularly popular amongst design enthusiasts, for whom the character of the object is paramount. It is a wonderful illustration of Gevers’ ability to create something timeless and striking from minimalist elements.
