101 Copenhagen Iwa Tray

The Iwa Tray Big in Birch is a sculptural ceramic piece that transcends traditional tableware through its thoughtful exploration of contrast and materiality. Named after the Japanese word for rock, this tray embodies a philosophy where form and function unite in quiet harmony.

Crafted entirely from ceramic and finished in a serene Birch tone, the Iwa Tray features a refined white mineral appearance that feels calm, soft, and inviting to the touch. The upper surface presents a perfectly circular form with subtle depth and a crisp, sharp edge that defines its circumference with precision. This minimal, refined upper plane is deliberately contrasted by the raw, organic texture of the underside, which evokes the rugged character of a mountainside or fractured stone.

This interplay between smooth refinement and jagged authenticity elevates the piece beyond functional serving into an object of quiet artistic expression. Whether used for serving, display, or as a standalone statement in your interior, the Iwa Tray commands attention through understated sophistication.

Available in three complementary sizes—Mini, Medio, and Big—the collection allows for flexible styling across different spaces. Each piece is hand-painted by skilled artisans, ensuring subtle variations in tone and texture that make every tray uniquely alive. Designed by Kristian Sofus Hansen and Tommy Hyldahl, the Iwa collection represents the marriage of Japanese aesthetics with contemporary Danish design sensibility.
